Groups Menu
Introduction
Groups are a way to organize and manage different types of users within the IXC ACS, based on their common functions, permissions or features. Each group may have specific rules or permissions that determine what members may or may not do in the system.
Access to Groups
Path: Menu Groups > Edit.
Value Delivery
- Custom Access: Each group can have specific permissions, ensuring that only authorized users can access or modify critical settings.
- Prevention of Errors: Limiting what each user can do helps to avoid accidental modifications that can impact the network, providing greater stability.
- Simplified management: With the targeting of users in groups, it is possible to manage and configure different permissions centrally and quickly without the need for individual adjustments.
Standardization of Settings
- Create a group for specific positions (NOC, administrator, secretary)
- Set an IP block to be used to access the system (can be either IPv4 address or IPv6)
- Set the permissions required for this user group

Best Practices
- Clear Name: Use descriptive names for groups
- Group Hierarchy: Organize groups in a logical structure
- Regular Review: Periodically evaluate the composition and configurations of the groups
- Tests: Test changes in a smaller group before applying on a large scale
Security considerations
- What? Implement rigorous access control for group management
- What? Use groups to apply consistent security policies
- Monitor changes in group settings
Final considerations
The IXC ACS groups are a powerful tool to efficiently manage large numbers of users within a provider. Used correctly, they can significantly improve the consistency of settings, and minimize operational errors.
